Obituary for Jackie "Jack" Hamner

Jackie "Jack" Hamner
Jackie (Jack) E. Hamner, 69 years of age of Riverview, FL, left this life on 10/04/17 to join his heavenly Father in his forever home. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL on 11/08/1947, the son of Goldman Horace Hamner and Easter (Channell) Hamner. He and his family relocated to Tampa when he was 10 years old, where he spent the remainder of his life. Jack attended local Hillsborough County Schools and served in the U.S. Army and the Florida National Guard. He retired from Kelley Equipment Co. of Clearwater, FL in 2011 as a crane operator, crane erector and welder. Prior to working for Kelley, he was with Simms Crane Service of Tampa, FL. He traveled extensively the last 25 years of his work and was away from home in various locations in Florida and other states, accompanied by co-workers who were his close friends and who kept in touch with him on a regular basis after his retirement. He was a dedicated patriot and quite out spoken regarding politics. Jack's favorite past-times were playing his guitars, listening to all music, especially country, following NASCAR and college football and enjoying God's beautiful creations of nature, birds and animals. He loved the many cats he had over the years and his remaining cat, "Ruby" and puppy dog, "Bruiser". Jack was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his above mentioned parents, his brother, Horace Hamner, his sister, Patricia Cox, a brother-in law, Barry Anderson, a sister-in-law, Sarah Hamner and several nieces and a nephew. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Millie (Russell) Hamner; beloved daughters, Erika Leann Leak (Daryl) of Tampa and Natalie Elizabeth Amato (Chad) of Mountain Home, AR; a step-son, Christopher Bryan Adkins (Sue) of Myakka, FL; and grandchildren: Morgan and Makenna Leak; Christian, Sarah and Channah Amato; Chelsea Adkins and Josh Brown, who all were bright shining stars in his life. In addition, Jack is survived by a brother, Douglas Hamner of Ozark, AL; and sisters, Mitzi Anderson of Lutz, FL and Debbie Schmidt (Scott) of Scottsdale, AZ. Jack is also survived by cherished, numerous nephews and nieces; his father-in-law.and mother-in-law, Ray and Polly Russell of WV; his sister-in-law Karen Jones (Stephen) of WV and SC; and brothers-in-law John Russell (Stephanie) of WV and Mark Russell (Brenda) of WV.
