I remember having Harlan G (Bobby), Jim and Billy come to Iowa one summer when their dad and Millie went to Thailand for the summer. It was wonderful getting to know these "city" kids from Tennessee! The one thing I always remember was Billy when he came to our farm near Madrid saying he had never seen so many bananas ever! Little did he realize at that point that we was looking at our corn crib that had see-thru walls (wire). My brothers and I still chuckle over that. Billy probably doesn't remember at all -
Even though I didn't get to know Uncle Bob very well or see him very often, I thought of him a lot. When my mom, his sister, Violet, was going through stuff to downsize and close up her home at the end of her lifetime, we found lots of things that he had either sent to her or that she had saved of his from the "home" place. I remember him writing and saying he didn't ever think he would see those things again and was always to thankful that mom had kept them all those years.
We love you all - Coleen
